David Lankhorst is a multidisciplinary designer based in the Netherlands, passionate about creating engaging experiences rooted in play and interaction.Whether working solo or with others, his projects range from printed matter to complex code, always infused with a sense of curiosity and creativity.
David believes that true creativity and meaningful engagement emerge through play. Inspired by Johan Huizinga’s Homo Ludens (1938), which celebrates the concept of “the playing human,” he views play as a powerful tool for fostering deeper connections between viewers and his work. This philosophy also guides his approach to design and collaboration, enabling him to discover new perspectives and solutions through experimentation and interaction.
A prime example of this philosophy in action is Project: BEER, created in collaboration with Jakub Chrenko. Together, they embraced the challenge of learning a skill outside the boundaries of graphic design—brewing beer. By merging their cultures and personalities, they created a unique beer that not only embodied their shared vision but also highlighted the value of venturing into uncharted territory. Beyond the final product, the projct illustrated their belief in the limitless possibilities of learning
and collaboration.
